Lasting Legacy.
Larry Robinson, Ph.D., was named the 12th president of Florida A&M University (FAMU) on November 30, 2017. Previously, he served as the interim president of FAMU from September 2016 to November 2017 and from July 2012 to March 2014. He served as director of FAMU’s Environmental Sciences Institute from 1997 to 2003, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs from 2003 to 2005, chief executive officer in 2007 and vice president for Research in 2009.
Rattler Love.
Since the first day we met, Larry has inspired me with his warmth, humor and unrelenting dedication of service to others. Sharing the duties of raising our family for 33 years, he has loved, protected and encouraged us with great strength of character and love. I rest easy at night knowing the Robinson Family can only grow stronger as a result of his unflinching vision and determination to serve others so all can succeed. Congratulations Mr. President, as Nicole, Talia, Arlin and I already know far better than most, of your commitment to faith, family and Florida A&M University.
Eternal Love.
Our father read to us nearly every night and despite all the heroic tales he read, none was as inspiring as his own . . . the kid from South Memphis who became a nuclear chemist, father and educator. He ignited our imagination and gave us the courage to make our dreams real.
Congratulations Daddy,
We’re so proud of you,
Nicole, Arlin and Talia!
Academic Roots.
President Robinson is actively engaged in research with students and faculty as the director and principal investigator of the Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems. The center was established in September 2016 with a $15.4 million award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Educational Partnership Program.
Servant Leader.
Every day, President Robinson wakes up knowing he has the best job in the world - to serve the students, faculty and staff of FAMU and to help make the University better. His dedication is seen day in and day out, never wavering as he puts the needs of his beloved “College of Love and Charity” above his own.
